Krisis Representasi: Ekspresi Budaya Minoritas dalam Ruang Lingkup Media Arus Utama

Penelitian ini mencoba memahami bagaimana kelompok budaya minoritas di Indonesia mengekspresikan identitas mereka di tengah dominasi media arus utama. Dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, media seharusnya menjadi ruang bersama yang mencerminkan keberagaman masyarakat. Namun, yang sering terjadi justru sebaliknya: budaya minoritas kerap tampil dalam bentuk yang dipermudah, disalahpahami, atau bahkan tidak terlihat sama sekali. Lewat pendekatan kualitatif dan analisis wacana kritis, penelitian ini menelaah bagaimana tayangan televisi, berita daring, dan media populer membingkai keberadaan budaya minoritas. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa media masih cenderung menggunakan sudut pandang mayoritas yang kurang memahami kedalaman budaya yang diangkat. Akibatnya, banyak suara minoritas yang tak terdengar, dan stereotip pun terus berkembang. Penelitian ini menyoroti perlunya media yang lebih terbuka dan adil—yang tidak hanya menampilkan, tapi juga memberi ruang bagi minoritas untuk bercerita atas nama mereka sendiri. Mewujudkan representasi yang inklusif bukan hanya soal keadilan, tapi juga langkah penting untuk membangun masyarakat yang saling memahami dan menghargai keberagaman.
